In Late October of 2011 I went to the Chinese consulate to obtain a tourist VISA only to discover I had downloaded and filled out the wrong form. Frustrated, I was told that the consulate could not provide the correct form, and that the form must be filled out with a computer and printed off.

The security guard directed me to the nearest internet cafe, to which I walked three-and-a-half wide, lateral blocks - backtracking over the route I had already taken to get to the consulate. Once inside, I saw many more people with the same problem…

Two days later I took a moving van to the consulate. Running a printer off of the cigarette lighter in the car, and offering my help, I found myself instantly overwhelmed. The next day I had my friend (and bandmate) Steve Nelson come with me.

In our first month we met and helped over 500 people with their applications.
